Wednesday might just become my favorite day of the week! While I take time nightly as part of The Daily Practice to record what I was grateful for that day, there’s something really fun about looking back at the week as a whole to see what really stood out.
Speaking of The Daily Practice, writing down what we’re grateful is just part of the process. This practice requires very little time but can have very powerful effects because it brings attention to how we want to feel and who we want to be. It helps us focus less on doing and more on being the person you want to be.
It’s been a good week. I was able to be very productive and still take time for fun!
On Saturday, my cousin came in from the suburbs so that we could hang out and have dinner together. She’s been through a lot lately, so it was really nice to spend some time and just talk. She brought with her a bottle of wine that another cousin had sent to her, which made me smile since it made it feel like she was with us in spirit! I believe it was her favorite bottle…and this particular cousin knows her wine, so that was fun to try. Btw, I have never brought in a bottle of wine to a non BYOB place, so it was cool to learn that you could do that for a fee.
On Sunday, my boyfriend who just came back from India, and myself went out to Oak Park to meet up with two of his college friends. I had such a nice time. One of them was in town to exhibit her photography at the Oak Park Library. Stop by to see it if you have time! Not only did we receive a personal tour of the library, which is fantastic, but we were able to enjoy her beautiful photographs. One woman came up to the photographer while we were there and shared how much the art had affected her. She was moved to tears by what she saw. Beautiful! Such great conversation and inspiration that afternoon. Check out her photography at Photography Without the Pretense.
I’ve been hard at work and have been focused on finding ways I can add value. I have a couple projects that I’m working on and am so excited about. I’m grateful that I’m finally at a point where I’m ready to share. Something I’ve been wanting to do is create an audio version/podcast of exercises to encourage people to add more movement into their day. To be honest, I was kind of intimidated about doing this for a number of reasons…But just yesterday I sat down and recorded myself. Then I took a look at this free tutorial by Pat Flynn which describes in a very detailed way how to get started with your podcast. I really appreciated the value he shared!!! By the end of the night, I had my first two episodes up and ready to go. A few kinks for sure, but I’m grateful for his help and for getting started!
What about you? What have you been inspired by this week? I hope you’ll take a moment to write down what you’re grateful! And, I would love to hear about it, so please share in the comments below.
